Allll righty then! If you really want to know what I missed during my absence from Spidey's world this could take a while. I will try to mention only the important things. Please realize during that time period I was only lightly keeping track of Spidey's universe. Meaning I may, and most probably will, make mistakes so feel free to inform me if I screw up anywhere or miss a big event.

As well as I can tell, nothing big happened between the time of Maximum Carnage and the beginning of the year of the clones, so I will jump to that point in time. Speaking of time any refrences made to time in the Marvelverse referes to time as the character might see it.

Five Years Ago

During a battle with the Jackal, Spider-Man was knocked out, kidnapped along with his then girlfriend Gwen Stacey, and horrible experiments were performed on them. During this time they were cloned. When the two Spideys awoke, each thought the other to be the original Peter Parker. They battled and eventually one killed the other. Spidey dumped the corpse into a chimeny stack and took off to resume his life. The "corpse" however woke up and still believed to be Peter Parker's clone, so he went off to make a new life for himself and began calling himself Ben Reiley.

Last Year

Ben returns to New York upon learning Aunt May has become extremly ill. He had been calling the house over the years to hear Aunt May's voice and pretended he had a wrong number. He goes to visit her but Peter shows up so Ben goes on the roof. May recovers just long enough to tell Peter that she knows he is Spider-Man and that she is quite proud of him. She died shortly after that. M.J. became pregnant. Ben Reiley decided to return to the super hero scene but since there was already a Spider-Man he made up a new costume and called himself the Scarlet Spider.

At some point in time it was revealed that there was another clone made during those awfull days under the Jackal's imprisonment. The first clone. However, due to a flaw in the cloning techinique used by the Jackal, this clone's cells began to degenerate. He called himself Kaine. During Ben's self-imposed exile Kaine, believing Ben to be the real Peter Parker, made Ben's life a living hell. Kaine's powers were more severe than Spidey's. When he clung to walls he burned his hand prints in them and his spider-sense allowed him glimpses into the future.

Okay, still with me? Good, now hang on 'cause we are just getting started!

Tests run by Seward Trainer proved that Ben was the real deal and Peter became distraught. The Jackal came upon the scene again and took Peter under his wing convincing Peter to help him create a world of clones. A new clone was created called Spidercide with the ability to change shape at the moleculer level. Ben took on the Jackal to end this dastardly plan, managed to pull Peter from his funk, and with Peter's help (I presume) defeated the Jakal.

Somehow (would someone please let me know how this happened) Peter lost his powers. A Scarlet Spider impersonator was fouling up Sc.Sp.'s reputation. Ben decided it was time to once again become Spider-Man. Carnage reappeared (you can find out more about this in the Carnage section), Doc Ock learned Peter's secret just before he at the hands of Kaine and Peter began to die. Peter eventually did die but after the death warrant had been written up his spider-powers kicked in again reviving him.

The Recent Past

A felmale Doc Ock took Otto's place seeking vengence upon Spider-Man. Seward Trainer died. Norman Osborn, long believed dead, and original Green Goblin reappeared alive and well. After the infamous battle in which Gwen Stacey died he went to Europe for a while. Speaking of Gwen, two of her cousins have moved into town and started attending E.S.U. Anyway, back to Norman. He bought a considerable portion of the Daily Bugle by threatening J.J.J. On Hallowe'en M.J. went into premature labour due to food poisoning. During this time Ben asked Peter for help to defeat Mendel Stromm. A doctor informed M.J. that she had lost the baby. After the battle with stromm Peter went to the hospital and was drugged by one of the goblin's lackies. Peter awoke in his costume (the original) to discover that Norman Osborn was still alive. They had a brief battle during which the Goblin mentioned "...I was manipulating Miles Waren, Seward Trainer and more aspects of your life than you can ever fathom! This thing here -- this Ben Reiley -- he is the clone Peter. Always has been." It was seen at some time that a female attending M.J.'s delivery posing as a nurse delivered a package (presumably baby May) to Norman.

All walks of life are trying to take over the throne to New York's underground left vacant by the Kingpin. Thus causing the return of The Rose, it is still unknown if this rose is Ricard Fisk.

The Past Couple of Days

The one, the only Otto Octavious is back! (He was dead how long? I know people in Marvel rarely stay dead but c'mon!) Kraven the Hunter has returned, kind of. His son Alyosha came to NY to find out about from Webs about his daddy. Norman had Peter's house trashed (that's another thing when did they move out of the apartment and into a house??? Ah well.) so Peter naturally got upset. He went to pay Norman a visit as "Your friendly neibourhood Spider-Man" and proceeded to pound the living daylights out of him. Security cameras caught the whole thing and now Spider-Man looks like he has beat up a poor, defenceless member of society. Norman Osborn, the original Green Goblin defenceless! Ha! Norman has now used his weight at the Bugle to have the paper offer a one million dollar reward. Then Joey Z. was found covered in webbing was found dead with webbing stuffed in his mouth and nose. The Daily Bugle then upped the reward to five, yes FIVE MILLION DOLLARS! So now ever Tom, Dick and Harry is after Spidey's head. Bring us to this months storyline Spiderhunt.
